Camp Conestoga: 639 Buck Run, Somerset, PA 15501

May 20-21 is our First campout of the year!!!!!

Originally we were going to hold a campout at Cedar Creek but our Council decided to invite the cub scouts to the Spring Camporee at Camp Conestoga this year!

A Camporee is a big themed campout where lots of different packs and troops, from all across the district, come together for some scouting fun. This camporee is orienteering and geocaching focused. Each pack will work as a team to find geocache by following clues and working together to overcome obstacles along the way.

Camporees have been traditionally troop events. The older kids will be spending the whole weekend at camp. Our cubs will arrive after lunch on Saturday to participate in a cub sized version of the events.

• The pack will arrive for registration at 11:45 am and the fun starts at 1:00. Please eat lunch before you arrive (or bring a bagged lunch to eat while the leaders register the pack.)
• At 1:15 the packs will start the Tour de Conestoga course. We will complete various challenges while exploring Camp Conestoga. (Conestoga is the troop side of the summer camp we will be attending)
• At 4:30 we turn in our scorecard and report back to camp. We will be eating dinner in our camp.
• At 6:30 begins the evening retreat and the award ceremony follows at 7. We will be awarding some of our Pack accomplishments around the campfire that night after we return from the Cracker Barrel.
• After that we will be crawling into our tents and dreaming of campfires. ( If you aren’t quite ready to jump into tenting season you can just join us for the days activities.)
• All Campers will need to be packed up and on their way by 9am on Sunday morning.

This is a really nice introduction to how camp life works in scouts. Especially for new campers who have never been to a huge reservation, gone tent camping or just want to find out what exactly is a cracker barrel anyways.

Registration fee for the camporee – $5/scout. Adults — $5 each. Fees cover the cost of the event,
and each person will receive a patch.

Payments are due of the day of the event if paying in cash. If you need to pay by check or card through square please do so by May 17th.
